Life on the Palouse

Right now on the Palouse, we are experiencing crazy winds. I think the weather site I checked said 35 to 40 miles an hour with gusts up to 55 miles. It is often windy, but not quite this windy.

We also are having problems with a pipes. Whether our septic is full or we just have a clog somewhere, the toilet will not drain correctly. Not fun.

Last night, I made the worst dinner yet. My family is not real big on trying new things. We are simple down-home food kind of people. Beef Stroganoff is a family favorite, but I wanted to try a different recipe. I would love to be a little more adventurous in our food choices. Well, this was a bomb. Not a good choice at all. It had dijon mustard in it and it just overwhelmed all other flavors. You live and learn. I will definitely not be using that recipe again. I hate to throw away food, but it was so bad, I made myself eat my portion, but there was no way I was going to eat more. If you have a great stroganoff recipe, please pass it along.

Other than that, life is moving along. The Asotin County Library has a part time position open right now and I have been very tempted to apply. Of all the place I would love to work, the library is one of my top wants. I love books. I would love to work in an environment of books. Coffee shop/bookstore is at the top of my list. My husband reminded me that I have plenty to do all ready. I do not need to add to it. C' est la vie.

If you could do anything, what would your dream job be?

  1. I love my job, but I've had a few other jobs I would love to do if I could live 4 lifetimes. I think I would be a good lawyer, I also always wanted to be a counselor. Also a detective and a reporter. But I don't have time to do all those!

  2. My plan, at the end of high school, was to become a lawyer. My mom always thought this would be the profession for me. I also thought about becoming the first female president.

Now I still believe I would make a good lawyer, but I would never want to be president.

I have been thinking about my coffee shop/bookstore. I think I would also like to have a bakery in it. Not just sell a few ideas like Starbucks, but have a full on bakery. I love to bake.

  3. That would be cool. Maybe when the kids are older?
